Converting on efy means exchanging one asset for another without leaving the app. There are three paths depending on what you want to do: exchange one crypto for another, buy crypto with your balance, or sell crypto to receive money in a bank account. Choose the lane that matches your case and follow the steps.
How to convert, buy, and sell on efy
Exchange one asset for another without leaving efy: convert between cryptocurrencies, buy crypto with your balance, or sell crypto to receive money in a bank account.
Lane 1Convert between cryptocurrencies
Instantly exchange one cryptocurrency for another, between your own wallets. For example: converting USDT to Bitcoin.
Tap "Convert" on the home screen
Open the app and find the balance card on the home screen. That's where you'll find your account's main actions.
- 1Tap the "Convert" button next to Receive and Send.
- 2You can also use the center button on the bottom bar, which opens the Buy, Sell, and Convert options.

- 2Tap the asset selector to change the currency on either side (for example, USDT and BTC).
- 3The rate stays locked for a few seconds; the countdown shows how much time you have left. When it runs out, it updates automatically.
- 4Review the summary: exchange rate, fee, destination network, and settlement.
- 5Tap "Convert" to continue.
Confirm your identity
For your security, every conversion requires an extra confirmation before it goes through.
- 1Confirm with Face ID by double-clicking your phone's side button.
- 2If you prefer, tap "Enter code" and type the 6-digit code from your authenticator app.

- 1Copy your reference code and enter it in the transfer's payment memo. It's required to identify your payment.
- 2Follow the 3 steps: transfer the exact amount from your bank, upload the receipt (photo or PDF), and wait for validation.

Choose where to credit the funds
From "Send", choose "Bank transfer". Then specify where the money should go.
- 1efy account: the money stays in your own efy account, in that account's currency.
- 2External bank: the money goes to a bank account outside efy, in your country's local currency.

What you should know
Product rules explained in plain language.
Identity verification required
To convert, buy, or sell, you need to have completed identity verification. If you haven't finished it yet, you'll see these options locked with a notice to complete it.
The rate stays locked for a few seconds
When you get a quote, the exchange rate is locked for a short time, with a visible countdown. If the countdown reaches zero, the rate updates and the amount you receive may change.
Costs are visible before you confirm
The exchange rate and the efy fee are always shown in the summary, before the final button. In some transactions, the fee appears as included in the rate.
Converting between cryptocurrencies is instant
Exchanges between your own wallets (for example, USDT to BTC) settle instantly: the new balance is available right away.
Buying by transfer: reference and exact amount
If you pay for your purchase with a bank transfer, you must include the reference code in the payment memo and transfer the exact amount. Differences in the amount or the reference will block automatic validation.
Selling to an external bank: local currency only
To an external bank, you can only receive in your country's local currency. For other currencies, use your efy accounts as the destination.
Settlement window for sales
For sales to an external bank, you can choose when the transaction settles. The longer the settlement time, the bigger the discount on the amount you receive.
Cancellations
A crypto-to-crypto conversion can't be canceled once it's executed. A sell order can only be canceled while it hasn't entered execution. If you've already transferred the money for a purchase, don't cancel the order — upload your receipt instead.
Available assets
You can convert between the active crypto wallets in your account (for example, USDT, USDC, BTC, ETH). The list of assets may vary by country.
Payment with bank QR code
When paying for a purchase order, you can scan the QR code with your banking app instead of copying the account details. Enter the exact amount and include your reference.
Bolivia onlyCommon issues and how to solve them
Your conversion was rejected
Sometimes the payment system rejects the transaction. Your balance isn't debited: the funds stay in your source account. Tap "Try again" to run the conversion again.
We couldn’t complete your purchase
The 1,000.00 USDT remain in your USDT account and you can try again.
You can't confirm with Face ID
Tap "Enter code" and type the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. Each code is single-use and expires within seconds; if yours has expired, wait for the next one. Never share your code with anyone, not even with efy.
The rate changed while you were deciding
The locked rate has a countdown. If it reaches zero, it updates automatically and the amount you receive may change. Review the new summary before confirming — you don't need to start over.
Insufficient balance
If the amount you entered is more than your available balance, the app will let you know and won't let you continue. Lower the amount or add funds first (see the "Receive" guide).
Your purchase order was rejected
The most common reasons: the amount on the receipt doesn't match the order, or the reference isn't visible in the transfer. Check both details and upload a new receipt from the same order.
You can't cancel a sell order
Cancellation is a request: it only goes through while the order hasn't yet entered execution with the beneficiary bank. If it has already entered execution, the app will let you know — contact support if you need help.
